The Lent Project Management Timer "L-TimerTM" is a project management method developed by practitioners for practitioners. It is set out with the needs of IT service and systems purchasers uppermost.

The aim of L-TimerTM project management method is to contribute towards the implementation of the enterprise strategy, to ensure fullest client satisfaction and provide for high motivation of the project team members. An ingenious clock mnemonic serves as a basic concept for compact and transparent logical sequence of all those processes and aspects a successful project manager must master.

Special emphasis has been given to the human factor aspects, often called "soft factors" in projects: they predetermine the over all performance and the final results of the project.

The L-TimerTM method builds on standards relevant to the project evaluation and the project staff capabilities: DIN 69901 standards and recommendations of the German Project Management Association (national branch of IPMA), the US Project Management Institute PMP-Qualification as well as American ITIL and CMMI Requirements, the requirements of the latest edition (2003) of the Swiss government project management methodology "HERMES 2003".

The Lent Project Management TimerTM not only provides the project manager with an understandable navigation tool for gaining acquaintance with the methodology but in particular, supports him effectively in successful mastering of the everyday practical challenges.

According to the Lent Project Management TimerTM during the day the project manager is occupied with the administrative processes, whilst at night he devotes himself to the "human factors". The sequence of the processes describe the logic of a project structure: from planning and scheduling of target management to project evaluation (Balanced Scorecard) and from human resource management to objective oriented leadership. Purposely an association with the normal activities for the time of day is sought to facilitate the intuitive use of method(09:00h: "breakfast" = Purchasing).

The 24 hours cycle of all project management processes is continuously repeated – faster in some projects, slower in others. This provides for a comprehensive and continuous execution of all management processes in project life cycle.
